Intercompany and consolidation in Dynamics 365.

A consolidation is only as fast as the weakest intercompany balance. The goal is a close in which eliminations are a process, not a project.

← Multinationals

What speeds consolidation up

A close accelerates when the inputs agree before they are consolidated: exchange differences visible during the month, intercompany posted once and mirrored, local charts mapped in design, and eliminations that run as a process with an owner.

Intercompany balances that agree as they post
One period calendar and cut-off across entities
Local charts mapped to the group chart in Design
Automated eliminations with an audit trail

What the design fixes

One group chart with local statutory mappings, so translation is a rule rather than a rebuild. Intercompany transactions posted once and mirrored, with automated eliminations. A rate policy stated once (source, timing, revaluation). Consolidated reporting drilled back to the source document.

Reporting standards

Groups report under IFRS, or a local equivalent such as the Australian AASB standards. IFRS 18 and AASB 18 change the structure of the income statement for annual periods beginning on or after 1 January 2027, which is worth designing into the chart now rather than rebuilding later.

What you receive from a discovery workshop

A short, written output you can take to your board or another implementer.

A fit-gap of your processes against standard Dynamics 365
A recommended platform and entity structure, with the reasoning
A group design outline: chart, dimensions, approval matrix and integration map
A phased plan, with the pilot country and wave grouping proposed
A scoped estimate and the cost drivers behind it

How an engagement runs

It starts with a 45-minute consultation, then a discovery and fit-gap workshop on your own processes. You receive a written fit-gap and a phased plan before a programme is agreed. Four phases follow, each with something you can use and review.

01

Discover

Process workshops, data audit, and a fit-gap against the standard product.

02

Design

Solution blueprint, integration map, and the extensions we will actually need.

03

Deploy

Configuration, migration rehearsal, role-based training, UAT and phased cutover.

04

Support

Hypercare, managed services, client portal, scheduled optimisation reviews.

What drives the cost: users, legal entities and currencies, integrations, data migration and the gaps found against standard. See how pricing works or run the three-minute readiness score.

Frequently asked questions

Can you run IFRS and local GAAP side by side?

Yes, through parallel ledgers or a mapped chart, depending on the requirement. We decide it in the Design phase.

Can the group close be faster?

Usually. The gains come from posting intercompany once, mirroring it, and eliminating automatically.
